Annie and Ryan met through a dating app as college freshmen. Their first date was getting brunch at Tatte, a bakery in Kendall Square. Annie felt comfortable with Ryan from the start, especially when she spilled a piece of egg on herself and he didn't seem to mind. She liked his mustache and easy-going demeanor. He liked her blonde hair, blue eyes, and her laugh. At the end of their first date, Annie asked Ryan to be her date to the freshman formal dance at MIT. The couple has been inseparable ever since.
Ryan's loyalty for Annie was evident when he'd traverse the Harvard Bridge by bike to be in the stands for every one of Annie's home MIT volleyball games. He once even rode 12 miles along a highway at night so he could see her conference finals. Annie, in turn, immersed herself in one of Ryan's sports passions: watching the annual Beanpot tournament, a hockey tradition at TD Garden. They had a raucous celebration when Ryan's alma mater, Northeastern, clinched the 2023 title in a shootout.
Annie and Ryan have traveled together to Montreal, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Paris, and Oslo. But mostly, they prefer being closer to friends and family and being outdoors, such as ice fishing at Silver Creek Reservoir (ask Ryan about that fishing license!) or on the ski slopes of the northeast.
It was on a group ski trip to Jay Peak resort in Vermont that Ryan proposed to Annie. He drew Annie outside, under the guise of a simple morning walk. Then Ryan dropped to one knee in the snow. Friend (and groomsman!) Paul Cirillo was nearby, taking photos to mark the occasion.
Back home in Boston, when they're not toying with their favorite programming language (Python, of course) or watching reruns of "Family Guy," Annie and Ryan are busy tossing squeaky toys to their beloved golden retriever Tucker and adopted cat Mango. They also can be found along the Charles riverfront training for a half marathon.
Annie and Ryan are so happy to welcome you to Boston to share their special day.
